FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Past clients say I offer great value. I work fast with short turnarounds. I also take into account what you intend for the item. That means I will suggest money-saving alterations where possible for "single wear" items, like bridesmaids dresses. I'm not interested in stretching out the repair to make more money. I do the best repairs for the lowest price because I think what dry cleaners and bridal stores charge is shameful. I'm also scrupulously honest about hours, equipment and abilities: if you bring work that needs a different service, I will suggest that and recommend where you look for assistance. Nothing means more than satisfaction in my customers.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If I can do a great job and have time to get you in quickly, I will bid on your job. If I'm unsure of my ability to respond to your needs because of time or the complexity of the job, I will not bid on your job. If you choose to work with me, you'll come to my location at a mutually agreed upon time, we'll look at your job or mark it for alteration. Discuss your ideas for design or alteration and then I'll get started. I'll send you a text when it's ready that includes the total cost. Pick-up again is at a mutually agreed upon time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm trained in haute couture design, pattern-making and fit; traditional tailoring (suits and coats made with wool and old school techniques) and factory sewing. As a personal practice, I love making pillow and window covers for clients as well. I've made a specialty out of bridesmaids dresses because I like working with happy people.
