FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For half hour lessons I charge $ 60 per lesson, for 45 minute lessons I charge $85 per lesson, and for hour lessons I charge $110 per lesson. I offer extras for 45 minute and hour lessons that are not offered in half hour lessons. I like to start with a no obligation introductory lesson where I teach a lesson and then go over my policies and packages. Then we both decide if we would like to continue with lesson.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by emailing with them or talking to them on the phone to discuss what they want to learn on their instrument, what their level and experience is, what instruments they have or will purchase, what length of lesson they want, where they live, and what day and time of the week will work for both of us. During the introductory lesson I explain my policies and have the student fill out a contract agreement form with their contact information. The next week or the say and time we agreed on we start lessons.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started playing the flute when I was 10 years old. I started playing the piano when I was 8 years old for two years and then again in college for two years, but I played it throughout the years I was playing the flute as well. I started playing the clarinet in college. In addition to teaching private lessons on these instruments for seven years, I also taught piano group classes for a year and a half. I also taught elementary general music, band, and choir for 9 years at multiple elementary schools. I have a Bachelors of Music in Music Education and my Colorado Music K-12 Professional Teaching License. When I taught elementary band, I taught flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, and trombone.
