- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Weddings and other Events: The flat base rate for an event that lasts an hour or less is $150.00. For events that last more than an hour, an extra $100.00 will be added per hour. This rate is non-negotiable. This fee is due before the wedding/event day or after you sign the contract that will seal your booking date. Additionally, small fees may apply for weddings and events that have a driving time of more than 35 minutes. For private lessons in music theory, viola, piano, guitar or violin mastery and performance, jazz improvisation and other courses, the flat rate is $100.00 for an entire month or $20.00 per lesson. This rate is for lessons that are anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour long (depending on scheduling) with lessons occurring once a week for the entire month. For students who would rather have 2 lessons a week, the fee will be $200.00 a month for 30-45 minute lessons twice a week and $230.00 for hour lessons twice a week. For chamber ensemble coaching, the fees range from $200.00 a month for duet chamber ensemble instruction, $360.00 a month for trio instruction, and $400.00 a month for quartet ensemble coaching. - What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I always recommend that my clients really think through their event plans from the biggest detail to the smallest. Everything from the acoustics in their venue as well as weather and most importantly time. Always remember that if you are booking for an event and the musicians are hired from Phoenix Event Services, the musicians are required to have at least two mandatory rehearsals of repertoire selections if there is no event dress rehearsal before the day of the event. This is to ensure that our clients are always receiving the highest quality of performance from behind the scenes. There is always a large amount of hard work on behalf of the musicians for the events that they are booked for. Additionally, other details such as event length breaks and wait times differs greatly between brass, woodwind, percussion and string musicians. Other factors like fees for specially selected repertoire, travelling time and distance, and weather(if the event is outside) for the musician(s) always needs to be factored when you consider hiring a musician for your event. In terms of music lessons from the Phoenix String Conservatory, the student should always evaluate what instrument they wish to perform, why they decided to start playing an instrument as well as how long into the future they are trying to take performing on their instrument. Unless it is a hobby, if you are choosing to play an instrument with the idea of a career in music in mind, then you should note that there is a strong emphasis on dedication during your personal practice time that requires patience and can be very time consuming. Aside from that, another concept my clients might find useful to think about is the cost of maintenance for playing their specific instrument (cost of strings, reeds, sheet music etc.) and more importantly the cost of the instrument itself and how much you are willing to spend for your instrument.
