It was so great working with Jim. He showed up on time and had great ideas for our project. We also hired him to do other work because he is versatile in more than just putting up fences. Our new gate is just beautiful. We look forward to working with Jim in the future.Oct 7, 2016VerifiedJames B.'s reply
It was a pleasure working with you and I look forward to working with you again thank you
I was planning on letting this go since Jim is a nice guy, but once I had a real professional attempt to finish the job, I feel as though i have an obligation to write a review. Jim says he is licensed, but I am not sure that is true based on the hack job he did. please see pictures. On the first day, he arrived just before 6PM and spent 4 hours attempting to install the ceiling fan. He proceeded to blow the circuit breaker multiple times. At 10PM, I cut him off. He came back the next day and, again, couldn't get it to work. I felt bad for him and paid him $100 to cover his rental ladder and the time he spent. (mistake) After hiring a non-Thumbtack electrician, we pulled apart the fan and found the following: 1. A live, uncapped, hot wire in the ceiling mount (this could have started a fire!) 2. Several hacked splices 3. A hole drilled into the downrod for God knows what reason 4. The receiver is fried and needs to be replaced. This is the biggest disaster I have ever seen. Not only is the job not done, not only am i worse off had i not done anything at all, not only am I out for new parts and more labor, but on top of it, he could have potentially put my home and family at risk. The ratings on this website are a joke and seem to be easily manipulated by fake reviews from fake accounts. BEWARE! Bottomline: This guy should not be in business.Jan 21, 2017VerifiedJames B.'s reply
Well sef, I am sorry for your simple minded confusion and will make effort to help. First of all I am licensed #ape. 9935605, so I showed up at 12pm our scheduled time to here your complaints as to why you couldn't get anyone to work for you (should have followed my gut) and how you just need it done. I took the job and at an extreme discounted rate on top of that I rescheduled 2 other projects so I could help you out! I then had to go get supplies and equipment to do your fan I returned and began the installation only to find that you added pieces to be installed and that the wiring in your ceiling was a complete mess some of which were nonfunctional I spoke to you about this and we agreed that I would continue. I installed the fan wired it properly and turned it on and the power went all the way to your receiver and quit thus telling me the receiver was bad (this happens from time to time) it was by now late so I told you that I would return in the morning to attempt troubleshooting and finish up. You agreed and i returned in the morning you asked me to just finish up that you were going to later check on the receiver and go from there so I closed everything up you paid me for the job that I completed we even shook hands and we parted ways....you bought faulty equipment, the wiring in your house is a mess, you obviously have no idea what is involved in wiring a ceiling fan, think about the way you treat people and you will gain some insight on why individuals like myself won't work for people like you I am sorry that your fan didn't work and i hope you got it replaced good luck to you I wont entertain any acknowledgement or explanation to the rest of the garbage you said here take it easy sef
I paid Jim 400$ as a deposit to build stairs on my house. Not only did he not show up But he won't respond to texts or calls. This guy is a con artist. Don't hire him he will steal your money and not do any workNov 24, 2017Verified
Fence Door built incorrectly. No brace was ever installed. Falling off in less than 1 year, sagging and dragging on ground. Used less than half a bag on concrete per post. Used only 1 screw per stringer, (three screws per panel side) wind blew panel off. Terrible workmanship.Oct 24, 2017James B.'s reply
Aron, I found out who you are you said you did it anonymously because you didn't want any back and forth you also said you only did this dishonest review because you were angry and that you would have it removed thumbtack wont remove it for integrity reasons....you also told me that you would resubmit the review you have not done any of this... I have attempted to contact you to no avail. When I finished your fence the last conversation we had was my explicite garauntee- If you have any trouble at all call me and I will be there immediately. I extend this in every job.... With this type of garauntee it would be rather foolish and expensive to build anything with such poor craftsmanship I would never in good conscience alone leave my customer hanging like that.... I'm sorry you had trouble the gate sagging is very typical after this amount or time we are talking a year and I would have been happy to install a tensioner on it if you wanted it.... Best of luck to you Jim First Place Finishes
