Introduction: I have a B.S. in molecular genetics with a minor in mathematics, and I have tutored various levels of math and science during about the last eight years. In the '14-'15 school year, I ran an after-school program that aimed to educate and empower elementary school girls in the science and technology fields.
The classes I took in college were incredibly theory heavy, which helped me further understand why it is not only important to know how to solve a problem, but to also know what you are doing at each step and why you are doing it, which then grants a better, more confident understanding of the material. I have found that this translates very well to tutoring, where the one-on-one format makes it easy to identify exactly where the student is struggling and then focusing on those aspects of the material.
I have a passion for math, science, and learning in general, which I bring to teaching and tutoring by showing my enthusiasm for a subject and why I think it is interesting.
