FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Prices vary on what services are being preformed (Just a bath, Full Groom, Nail trim, Face trim etc.), and the size or your pet. Coat condition is also taken into consideration, dematting does cost extra as this requires more time and care to shave the mats off. Cat grooming (Full Lion cut, nail trim and ear cleaning) is generally $55. Matting may increase the price.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will greet the new customer and their pet. I then get the customer and their pet's information. We also write down their pets rabies expiration date and any health issues/allergies. I then ask them what services they would like done with their pet today. If getting a haircut I try to use words to help us both get to the haircut they desire, or I show them pictures of previous grooms to get the perfect match! For smaller dogs and cats I strive to get them in and out in under 2 hours. Larger and/or very matted dogs may require more time. The customer is immediately called as soon as their pet is finished.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was initially trained through the Petsmart training academy after beginning as a bather in 2010. I trained for over two months with a senior groomer, with hands on and book training. After training, I stayed at Petsmart for another year and then moved on to a private salon. I decided to leave the private salon to get a position at Petco where I was the grooming salon manager. I trained many employees and took on all grooming and management responsibilities. I then had the opportunity in 2013 to take on my own salon, Bark Avenue Pet Salon. I love going into work every day and wouldn't change a thing!
