FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Not only am I a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist myself, I am also an Approved Clinical Supervisor for both the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors (NCBLPC). This means that not only am I a seasoned professional myself, but I am also given the responsibility of ensuring national levels of integrity are met by two out of the three professional licensing boards in the state.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up in a family ridden with psychiatric illness and addiction. This work is all I have ever wanted to do since I was a child, which I later recognized as an attempt to rescue my own family. Now I do with couples, individuals, and families what I wish someone would have done with my own.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I have recently had two research proposals accepted by the International Family Therapy (IFTA) World Congress located in Spain, taking place in March of 2017. These research projects pertain to relationship dynamics and empowering marginalized voices, and I look forward to extending my relationship expertise to the international mental health practitioner community.
