FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For an individual income tax return, I charge $200 for the basic return, plus and additional $40 per form. I have no additional charges like you may see from others for e-filing or direct deposit of refunds. In fact, if you have your previous year's return, you can easily estimate my fee, which is not common in the industry.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For a first time appointment with a new client, we usually meet at a coffee shop or other public location, but after that I am glad to travel to your home, especially since that is where your financial records are! You should bring with you your last income tax return filed, for us to discuss previous approaches, to your situation. If you are hoping to complete your return in the first visit, be sure to bing your W-2s or other income information, social security cards, if possible, for all individuals included on the return, and any other correspondence recieved supporting expenses claimed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with a degree in accounting from UNCC in 2000, hold a CPA licence in NC and CA, take 40+ hours of continuing education per year, and have been preparing tax returns for clients for well over 16 years.
