FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I recommend an hour lesson weekly or bi-weekly, and I offer access to my comprehensive online video instruction library that is a highly effective and affordable way for students to learn. Students can take lessons in person at my studio in Cincinnati, or they can take lessons via Skype if they don't want to travel or if live outside the Greater Cincinnati area. In addition to standard lessons, I'm available to answer questions via email as support throughout the week. Throughout my 30 years of teaching experience, I have found that when my one-one-one students have access to my video library (with almost 200 instructional videos), they have fun and they learn the fastest. Access to my video library is $19.95 per month and it includes tab and jam tracks. Lessons are $50 per hour. I'm a touring musician with 30 years of experience on stage, in the studio, and as a teacher. kellyrichey.com
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I evaluate students' current knowledge and skill level. I design personalized lesson plans to insure that my students have appropriate warm-up exercises, a strong foundation in music theory, and I get them playing songs immediately. I believe learning can, and should be, fun and comprehensive.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a unique combination of training and real life experience to offer my students. I have studied guitar almost my entire life. I grew up in a musical family: my mother was a classically trained pianist, I sang in church, and I began taking piano lessons when I was five years old. I got a guitar when I was 15 years old and immediatally began studying the guitar and practicing 12 to 16 hours per day. I started teaching guitar when I was 19 years old at a local music store while I continued taking lessons from almost every teacher in my home town. I moved to Nashville, Tennessee in my early twenties and toured with a band on Arista Records for four years, while continuing to teach select my guitar students when I was off the road. While in Nashville, I studied from the best instructors that that city had to offer, and worked one-on-one with highly successful studio musicians. In 1991, I started my own band and built a regional fan base while teaching a full student load throughout the week. As I began to tour, I began booking and managing my own band. I also started making albums, and started my own record label. Today, I have taught over 1,000 students to play the guitar. I have played over 4,000 shows, and toured throughout the USA, Canada, Europe, and Australia. I have developed an online teaching library that supports my students throughout their entire learning process, and I am a TrueFire.com guitar instructor. I am constantly expanding my knowledge and continue to study and take lessons from each guitar instructor I feel will enhance my ability to learn, teach, perform, and write. I am also a certified Life Coach. I am committed to educate, motivate, and inspire my clients to identify their life's purpose and achieve the their life's dreams. I have the following Life Coach certifications: Certified Writing Facilitator® Certified True Purpose Coach® Certified Dream Coach® Certified Dream Coach Group Leader® I am committed to learning, teaching, coaching, and the creative process.
