    My desk top hard drive ceased to function and I was told it would not start up in order to retrieve my data. I took it to Gulf Computer Pro for a second opinion. Tim began his analysis immediately and within a few minutes he agreed with the initial analysis, the patient had died. He did not charge me for the short time it took him to look at the drive. Very cordial and a pleasure to meet. When I have computer issues in the future, I'll be giving Tim a call.

    Many changes in computer use, connections, etc over time, especially since my son, also my tech support, died from cancer. It is very difficult to find someone who is knowledgeable, honest and upfront. I have had some take advantage which is even worse considering the fact I am disabled. Due to changes in internet provider we had some issues with things such as: 1. Not be able to access printer via WiFi or 2. To scan to computer. Also, my desktop has slowed down in certain ways so I needed advice regarding that. They also took out a four years of dust, something that I have been unable to do since my son could. No one else even thought to offer to. I am very happy with and highly recommend Gulf Computer Pro. I will definitely use again!!! They even left stuffed animals for my grandsons!!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initial contact by phone. Determine what may be the cause and set appointment. Explain fees. Be honest about repair and my ability to do the work. Obtained signed agreement if work is complicated or data may be compromised.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20 years in web development. 4 years in networking. 15 years computer repair. Currently working towards A+ certification.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started with web design in the early 90’s which lead into a bit of computer repair. I would sometimes hold chat conversations with strangers helping them diagnose computer problems. As time went on, people started paying for my advice and small computer repairs.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Parents, college kids, business owners and multi-office medical practices
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I helped a woman whose child had ordered some in-game currency and also downloaded a few viruses. Her computer’s password had been changed and locked everyone out. I was able to help restore access, recover lost files and set up the computer with better security options. The project took two hours, but the conversation we had will always remain with me. We shared parenting stories and I think I gave her more parenting advice than computer advice.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Read reviews of a service provider and don’t rely on credentials. Knowing HOW to do a good job and taking care of the actual customer are two different things. We are not a large corporation, we are simple people who love to help out others.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
To what extent are you willing to carry out your repair? Are you willing to do a factory restore on your computer if the repair requires it? How powerful of an upgrade are you needing?
