Introduction: Called the students favorite Spanish tutor at Agnes Scott College and a recipient of the Marilou Villavieja-Tippet scholarship, which allowed me to accomplish my dream of studying in Spain, it is obvious that Spanish is my passion. It is also my major. Due to my Puerto Rican heritage, Spanish comes naturally to me and speaks to my expressive, excited, and enthusiastic nature. Not only can I explain the right grammar structures, but I can also tell you why Spanish functions in the particular way it does. Because my goal is to help you achieve complete fluency, my method of tutoring is interactive (videos, audio, reading, etc.). Most of the students I assist obtain a higher-letter grade. My slogan is Encontrando tu sol en Español (finding your sun in Spanish)! I look forward to hearing from you, so we can go beyond the books into a lively and language immersive atmosphere. I love being a part of making people's dreams a reality, especially when it relates to language. Language is one of my favorite topics because it is often a key into another culture, and therefore a medium into having a deeper understanding of humanity. Spanish is one of the most-widely spoken languages as 21 countries consider it to be their official language. Therefore, the possibilities of utilizing Spanish to gain other insights and advantages are vast. I enjoy the satisfaction that comes with guiding a person to tap into these possibilities.

Amazing Spanish tutor!

In working with Soleil (Mecca) I found that I have learned far more than what is typically taught in the college classroom. As junior at Agnes Scott College who has not received the opportunity to take proper Spanish classes before college, I find it difficult at times to relate to/understand general teachings of chapter topics throughout the course. While language may come very easy or may be second hand to many students, language, especially the Spanish language, is something that I have to constantly work at to do well. In working with Soleil, I found that she was able to not only re-teach the material that I was struggling with, however she was able to, teach it in an alternate way, tailored to how I received the information best. She conformed to the learning style that was best for me in retaining the lesson rather than do what college professors do and teach from one perspective or with one style that only befits some students as opposed to all. Soleil is always prepared for each tutoring session, and never fails to follow up with me after an exam, quiz, or homework assignment. She challenges my comprehension and allows me the space to take the information for myself and apply it where needed, but only after thoroughly reviewing a concept that I may have not understood. I recommend tutoring with Soleil very much so. Her level of quality and care is a kind that I seldom find in tutors.

Mecca is an outstanding tutor. I've received tutoring from her in Spanish for a year and my language skills have improved. She is really great with the language and she is capable of working with clients at any level. Since working with her, my confidence speaking the language and writing has improved tremendously. She is really patient and wants you to understand. She constantly tries to make learning Spanish fun, and she does not give up on you, even when you want to give up. I truly learned a great amount of Spanish with her.

Mecca Danet is a very knowledgeable and dedicated tutor. Through working with her, I have received exceptional grades on assignments in my Spanish course. When I work with a new student, I assess the level of understanding and ability to speak Spanish that he or she displays. Then, I assist the student to build upon what he or she already knows through focusing on the areas in which the student can grow.

I am a Spanish major at Agnes Scott college who has completed all coursework required to acquire the major. I am also a native Spanish speaker.
