Scott is very professional and knowledgeable on handling my puppy’s separation anxiety and mannerism. I noticed he was very natural with his methods and used valuable techniques. He is also very responsive and timely with his communications.Dec 31, 2018Verified
Before Scott stepped in to help us we were constantly stressed and worried by our 3yr old pit bulls behavior and aggression towards people and dogs. Even after the first session we saw a difference and for the last session we got to take our pup to a dog park! Something we thought we’d never be able to do. Scott answered all our questions and really cared about helping us handle our pup. Best money we’ve ever spent!Jun 9, 2018
Scott is an amazing dog trainer! I didn't think my dog could be trained but after only one session she started to calm down and obey commands. He worked with her on her aggression towards guests coming into our home as well as obeying simple commands. Maddie, my dog, is still doing good even after the training! I'm so grateful for Scott helping us!May 19, 2018
We are so thankful for Chill Out Dog Training! Not only did our puppy, Luna, learn to chill out, but so did we! Luna was exhibiting the typical puppy behaviors for our first several months as owners. Potty training, bite pressure guidance, and boundary setting were daunting tasks. We were embarrassed when Luna would have an accident or greet another human with her mouth around their hand. It became exasperating to come home to a mess all over the floor, especially because we were in the middle of moving. However, Scott calmly walked us through the whole training process. The step-by-step training really helped us tackle one behavior at a time. Now, Luna is completely potty trained, comes on command, sits, stays, and goes to her place. She has learned a few tricks and is still learning how to be a well-behaved puppy. We have also become more informed and relaxed owners. Scott’s advice has truly helped us and we will continue to call Scott with any behavior questions in the future. I highly recommend Chill Out Dog Training!May 24, 2018
We have an Australian Shepherd that was totally out of control. If anyone knows about Aussies, they have way too much energy. We tried to train her ourselves but kept failing. We finally contacted Scott. After the first session I was so impressed, and it just got better. It is now a pleasure to walk her, no more pulling, barking or jumping and she comes when called. If you are searching for a dog trainer, look no further.Nov 14, 2018

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Our pricing is always right on our website. I'll provide a free phone consultation, and your first session will be $199, plus travel (if applicable). The small travel charge will be assessed for private in home sessions located outside 8 miles from York & Colfax.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First, I want to hear all about your dog. His or her current challenges, motivations, eating habits, attitude, breed, etc. I want to hear it all! I'll then provide you with some tips and strategies to hold you over till our first session. After that, we'll talk logistics, and decide where the best learning environment is for your dog (my place, your place, park, or patio). In the first session, I assess the dog in person. As I start to get inside the dogs head we'll begin to work, and I'll start providing you with insights into the behavior. We may begin with a walk, or start with some obedience (sit, follow, and/or place), or simply start working on impulse control. From there I build out a custom program to positively transform your dogs behavior, attitude, and obedience.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Dog training is all about insight, talent, and experience. I've worked with hundreds of dogs, and have seen it all. That said, I'm no stranger to animal psychology texts and lectures. My study of the mind and behavior, paired with my practiced problem solving skill, marries perfectly with training and behavior modification. I'm also a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT)
