FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Weekly private lessons are for 30, 45 or 60 minutes. My fee structure is: $28.00 for 1/2 hour lesson; $42.00 for 45 minutes; $56.00 for 60 minute session. Payment for the month is due the first lesson of each month. When possible lessons can be rescheduled to a more appropriate time during that week. If 24 or more hours of advance notice is received, a missed lesson is not charged.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initially goals are determined with the student (and parent). A new beginner student starts with a basic foundational series of lesson books. Each book progresses a student through another phase of learning how to read music, understand theory behind music and how to play the piano. In addition, special music such as classical, jazz, and popular songs are interspersed for fun and added variety. Typically, transfer students continue with lesson books from former teachers with adjustments made where needed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up in a home full of music. I studied piano from age of 5 to 18. I had extensive training with a teacher from Juilliard School of Performing Arts and the President of Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. I received a teaching certificate from University of Northern Colorado with additional piano studies from Colorado State University School of Music. I have been teaching piano lessons for the last 21 years which has been the greatest "hands-on training” while working with children to adults, and from beginners to advance students. Other involvement in music have been: playing the piano for musical events and performances, singing in choirs, musical events, and an A Cappella quartet.
