FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There is a very particular fee schedule for our practice as we are not in-network with any insurances. We do not participate with any insurances nor do we submit for patients, but we do submit to Medicare as a courtesy. We do, however, have one fee schedule for patients who will get reimbursed for seeing someone out-of-network, another fee schedule for patients who do not have insurance/will not get reimbursed for seeing someone out-of-network, and a fee schedule for Medicare patients. Our Medicare patients are still required to pay in full on the date of service, but we will submit that appointment as a courtesy. We also have a survey patients can fill out and they will receive a $10 discount on their next visit when they give it back to us. Give us a call to find out more!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a new patient calls to set up an appointment, we take their name, birth date, address, and a Visa or Mastercard number to hold their first appointment. Once the patient comes in, they will fill out a registration packet and provide us with their insurance/Medicare card as we keep copies for our charts if lab tests need to be sent out. Once they meet with the doctor, they will discuss medical history, family medical history, reason for coming, and if there is time at the end, which we normally do not see, they could either have a physical or order bloodwork. If neither of those happen, the patient will come back for another visit to complete the physical and the ordering of blood work.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After graduating as valedictorian of her high school class of 525 students on Long Island (a year after her brother did the same), Dr. Robin Ellen Leder attended Brown University, where she graduated with cum laude honors in Psychology (and minored in Theatre Arts). Upon completion of her studies at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University in New York City, she received the degree of Doctor of Medicine, and continued her post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at the Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in the Bronx, N.Y. She is currently licensed to practice medicine in the states of New York, New Jersey, and Florida. Her long-standing interest in nutrition and orthomolecular psychiatry led her to accept a position at the Atkins Center in Manhattan in 1988. The doctor sat with Robert Atkins every afternoon, observing his brand of complementary medicine first hand for months, and attended regular discussion meetings at his home. This opportunity served Dr. Leder as an invaluable introduction to the office practice of complementary medicine. Dr. Leder has since proceeded to practice holistic/nutritional medicine independently, always incorporating new ideas and innovative therapies into her patient care programs. For several years she practiced in a New York City internal medicine group. Then, in 1990, she took on a part-time practice in New Jersey devoted exclusively to holistic medicine. The practice moved to Hackensack in 1991 and eventually this became the doctor’s permanent and sole location. Through regular attendance at the teaching sessions of such national holistic professional associations as the American College for the Advancement of Medicine, the International College of Integrative Medicine, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, the American Holistic Medical Association, and Autism Research Institute, as well as numerous courses offered by independent nutritionally-trained speakers, nutrient manufacturers, and specialized medical laboratories, the doctor remains constantly abreast of the most current information in the ever-expanding field of complementary medicine. Dr. Leder has received recognition as Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology (formerly the American Board of Chelation Therapy). The doctor also attends meetings on advances in traditional psychiatry on a regular basis, and did a one year certificate course of psychoanalytical training.
