FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate is always 50$ per hour for training and starts at 30$ per night for petsitting. Board and train situations are discussed case by case based on duration and severity of the issues at hand. Prices start at the petsitting rate of 30$ per day.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most often I go to my new customers home for an initial two hour visit. During this time I will explain my methods and processes to the customer and discuss in detail the particular issues my customer is having. Depending on the nature of the behavior or issue at hand there may be some hands on practice such as leash walking or there may simply be homework to be done until the next lesson. Most especially in the case of dogs who are fearful of or aggressive towards strangers my work of building a trusting and gentle relationship with the customers dog starts the moment I ring the doorbell.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have learned everything I know from working hand in hand with some of the best dog behaviorists in my native Finland. Since I emigrated to the US in 2011 I was a pet trainer at a major pet retailer for a long time and while their program had merit I found it to be inadequate for helping people who are already struggling with severe issues with their pet.
