Introduction: In Minnesota I have taught a large range of classes including, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, College Readiness Math, and College Algebra. I have been tutoring students for over 5 years and have experience tutoring students in levels as low as elementary math and as high as College Calculus. In addition to being a licensed Math teacher in the State of MN I am also a certified tutor and Academic Coach through the College Reading and Learning Association.
When I was a high school student, I also sought out a tutor. I know what it's like to struggle, and I believe it is possible for anyone to become successful in math!
I am currently teaching Algebra 2 and Algebra B at Orono High School. I have a degree in Secondary Math Education with minors in Theatre and Bible from North Central University, and I am licensed 5-12 Mathematics in the state of Minnesota. My greatest joy comes from teaching and experiencing the “light-bulb” moments with my students. I strive to teach students to develop critical thinking skills as I encourage them to think independently and problem solve.
Throughout my experience in education I have developed effective communication skills and the ability to connect with students. I strive to create an atmosphere in which students feel comfortable and motivated to learn and try new things. My goal is for my students to have the ability to think critically and have confidence in their thought processes. My students learn strategies and skills that can be applied far beyond the classroom. It is my hope that my students will leave my care with the right set of tools and skills they need to be successful in their future endeavors.
