I would recommend David Defoe to anyone!
David Defoe was my pre marital counselor. He was very professional and made me and my wife feel secure that our information would remain confidential. He did a great job of facilitating conversations that we may have found difficult to discuss without mediation. I firmly believe that we benefitted immensely from the guidance and advice given during our sessions. I have recommended David's services to several friends and would not hesitate to return to him for counsel.

    Caring and Engaging Counselor!
My then fiancé and I were very nervous about starting pre-marital counseling for a myriad of reasons. However, David's mannerism, professionalism, and knowledge soon put us at ease. He made us comfortable and easily built a rapport. I would highly recommend him...his candor, care, and breadth of knowledge are hard to find. He always made time for us. And while any good therapy will take you through it, he will not leave you there alone. He guides you through the process and helps bring you out at the end. It also helps that he's pretty funny!

    Funny and Fresh
My wife (then fiancee) and I had a great time doing pre-marital counseling with Dr. Defoe. He was funny, fresh, and found intuitive ways to help us approach the reality of our relationship and upcoming marriage. We've been married for 3 years now and are thankful for the down-to-earth advice we received.

    Pre Marital Counseling
David, counseled my wife and I 7 years ago. David helped us navigate through the harsh realities we faced in our relationship. Marriage is not easy but we still to this day go back to using some the tools we gained from our counseling sessions with David.

David facilitated a seminar on grief for our group. His professionalism, authenticity, and intentionality were well received as he led us through discussions on a very difficult topic. His program is top notch!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Currently I do not take private insurance for couples or individuals. The individual rate is $95 per 50 min. session, $120 per 50 min. couples session, and $160 for a 75 min. couples session. I accept cash, checks, and credit/debit cards.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a masters in counseling psychology with an emphasis in Family Therapy. I am also a certified grief recovery specialist and crisis intervention specialist.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of clients who have presented with a variety of mental health related issues including persistent mental illnesses, ADHD, mood disorders and psychotic disorders. I also see many couples for marriage/relationship counseling, and individuals who have a range of psychological disorders including adjustment disorders, anxiety and depression.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Counseling is only done by trained professionals who are either licensed counselors, social workers, or psychologists. Please beware of relationship "coaching" and programs that offer a one-size-fits-all approach to clinical engagement.
