Introduction: I have been training dogs for about 30 years, successfully competing in AKC Obedience trials through Utility, and top level Schutzhund competition. I've earned high level obedience, tracking, schutzhund and herding titles on more than a dozen of my own dogs as well as helping coach professionals and novices to success with theirs. I enjoy helping people connect with their dogs and learn how to teach them boundaries and skills so they can be the best partners and companions

Julia (the owner of Coach for Canines) is amazing. She trained not only both of my dogs, but she trained me. I was a first time dog owner when Jake and I attended training. Jake is a Maltese, I'm a first time dog owner so I think we were a special challenge. Even though the rest of the class consisted of larger dogs and more experienced owners, Jake and I weren't left behind. I learned about being a dog owner and Jake learned about being a well behaved and well socialized dog. Several years ago I adopted a 7-year old Maltese who had some training but had also experienced some neglect. I headed to Julia's with Tipsy (yes, that's her name:) and Tipsy learned about trust, confidence and the excitement of being a dog and running around the yard. I learned how to help Tipsy be a confident dog and Tipsy learned that life is pretty good. When I travel I use Julia to kennel my dogs. There is no way I would send my dogs to another kennel where they stay in a cage other than an hour or so per day. At Julia's they are socialized, exercised and given a reminder of good manners. They always come home happy, better behaved and a bit worn out. Kind of like going to the best dog camp ever.

Julia is a specialist in helping you relate to your dog and train your dog in a manner that it is clear to the dog what you are asking of him/her. Her method makes it fun for the dog as well as the owner. I highly recommend her to be your trainer!!!

I've been working with Julia for about 2 months now with my "shepador" puppy. She is about 4&1/2 months old now and I can't believe how good she is!! Julia has no only helped us with the basics, she also has solutions for all the unwanted puppy behaviors like biting, jumping, etc. It's been nice to nip these as they start so they don't become problems. This has been the best experience I've had raising a new puppy.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I must evaluate the dog first. Typically an initial evaluation is $90 unless there is an aggression issue . Private lessons once the evaluation is done are $75 /hr and group sessions are $35. Board and train is generally $450 a week
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start with a private consult to establish method of communication to evaluate the student is in terms of skills ( dog and person!)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Retired Police K9 Handler AKC Tracking judge Advanced titles on more than a dozen dogs including SchH3 FH FH2 IPO3 UD TD TDX PT JHD RLF with multiple Highs in trial as well as Regional, National and International competition. Recommended by Veterinarians and Rescues
