FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For interior design services I usually charge 10-20% of the overall budget in an up front retainer depending on the scope of the project. From this retainer, I bill my services hourly, at $25.00 per hour. If the retainer amount is reached and the project requirements are still within the scope of the initial contract, I will bill no more for interior design services. If there is money left over from the retainer after my hourly services have been billed for design, that money can go back into the budget, or be refunded to the client. Essentially, my services will never exceed 25% of the overall budget.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
***This is a general idea of my process, and is subject to variation. First contact is usually via email or phone call, to touch base and get an overall idea of the project. Next is an in person consultation, in which we meet at the location of your project and discuss more in depth what the process will entail while walking through the space. I will then write up a Proposal Contract, determining the services to be rendered and an initial retainer amount based on the scope of the project. I will then design utilizing renderings and material boards (digital) as well as obtaining samples of materials. A scope of work will be drawn up detailing the cost of all the design choices/materials to be approved. Subcontractors (if necessary) will be quoted on their installation or design costs. Once all costs/the budget is signed off, construction/ installation can begin.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied the visual arts for the majority of my adult life. I have a bachelors degree in Interior Design from California State University Long Beach. I have worked with other interior design firms gathering experience.
