Introduction: As a Performance Coach, I teach you the tools you need as a professional to be clear, confident, heard and understood. I brake down my work into three categories: Public Speaking, Business Communications and Voice Over. Whatever your industry, your voice is your best asset. The more confident you are about using it authentically and without effort, the more personal and professional opportunities present themselves. Why would classical acting training for your coach be relevant to your career? Because classical actors are trained to discover the very best of themselves and adapt skills to every situation. At my studio, with more than 20 years experience voice acting as well as recording for broadcast, we incorporate all aspects of contemporary voice over including how to use your voice to shout, scream and yell for video games and ADR. Practice with copy from Tv & Radio Commercials, Narration, Promo and characters for Animation This work is fresh and immediate. You have to be 'in the moment' or present. We all have "blockers" that prevent us from achieving our goals. Thoughts that take us out of the game. All of my work is based on a solutions focused approach. Working together we establish what you would like to see and do more of, e.g. speak to a group without the nervous side effects or make an audition truly shine. I believe if you want to do this, you already have the right stuff. What comes next is identifying what will work for you to be successful and practice that. I use a wealth of techniques from contemporary psychology, organizational development as well as acting for Theater, TV, Film & Radio to develop your confidence. I don't just give you a list of 10 things you can do to improve and send you on your way. It really is a thrill to hear a voice become focused and clear ringing true with intention. It's that 'charisma' that people often say other people have without realizing they can have it as well.

Paul provided me with a good intimate setting where I could really hone in one my abilities as a voice actor. I've done acting but never voice acting before, Paul took me slowly through the process and I've really noticed improvements on my breathing and technique when delivering lines. If you're looking for someone to work with you and serve as a mentor on your road to being a voice actor you'll find no one better than Paul.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My regular rate is $125 for an hour. Your first hour is always free if you want to set up recurring appointments. When I take on a new client, for just one session or recurring, we'll do a needs assessment and discover how current situations affect ability to pay. There are always %10 off for SAG-AFTRA members.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I listen to what you want to accomplish. Some clients just want to have an introduction to the Voice Over world and figure out what they might be best at, others want to learn breath support and control for full volume shouting, battle chatter, call outs and death screams (or just speaking all day). Wherever you are, I create a comfortable environment for you to safely explore your vocal dynamic range.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Paul Mercier (Ace Combat, Call of Duty, Resident Evil) has made his career in Indoor and Outdoor Theaters, Sound Stages for ADR & Looping, as well as in Commercial Voice Over, On Air Promo, Broadcast Narration and Video Games since they were 8-bit cartridges. Before that he trained for the stage at Adelphi University in New York and continued training in London with the legends of Voice & Speech at Royal Shakespeare Co. & National Theatre of Great Britain: Cicely Berry ( Voice & the Actor ) and Patsy Rodenberg ( Need For Words ). Paul combines more than 30 years experience as a working Voice Actor and a Teaching Artist to give you the vocal skills you need to succeed with the power and stamina producers expect.
