- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Initial consultations are $80. Follow-up consultations at $50. If you live more than 20 miles outside of the 80538 zip code, there will be a $30 travel fee.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During an initial consultation, we will sit down and go over the goals you have for your animal. We will outline a training plan and get started on basic training techniques. During this initial consultation, we will also go over management strategies which have the potential of providing you immediate relief from animal's behavior problems. After the initial consultation, we will continue your training plan, walking you through each step.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Kate currently serves as the Behavior and Evaluations Coordinator at Larimer Humane Society, an open-admissions animal shelter located in the front range of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Her role at Larimer Humane includes behavior assessments of all animals that enter the shelter. She creates behavior modification programs for animals not suitable for adoption to give them a second chance at life in the community. She has experience rehabilitating both fearful and aggressive animals. She utilizes positive reinforcement and clicker training techniques to focus on fostering positive relationships between pets and their guardians. Kate graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2013 with a double major in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Psychology. She was thrilled to be able to complete her honors thesis in conjunction with the Humane Society of Boulder Valley behavior modification program. Kate has spent nearly a year completing behavior and training internships with exotic animals at the Toledo Zoo and Denver Downtown Aquarium. She worked with harbor seals, grey seals, polar bears, grey wolves, Sumatran tigers, and North American river otters. Kate returned to working with shelter animals in 2014, deciding to dedicate her life to homeless animals. She graduated with distinction from Karen Pryor Academy that same year, becoming a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP).
