Introduction: Richard Patrick Papa, Jr., has been playing guitar for 35 years and is well versed in all styles of music. Citing diverse and eclectic influences ranging from big band to heavy metal, Papa’s original compositions propel the unique sound he has carefully cultivated over his three plus decades as a sought after guitar player, composer and arranger. As a young musician Papa’s exceptional ability was honed by nontraditional means. The four years spent travelling during his service in the United States Air Force contributed greatly to his appreciation of musical diversity. He completed his studies by consuming the master books of Mr. Mel Bay And the Berklee Music Theory books 1&2. This early exposure helped hone Papa’s natural ability as both a master guitar player of all genres as well as an accomplished arranger and composer. Possessing the instinctive ability to mimic a chord progression and arrangement, Papa demonstrates an uncommon talent to deconstruct a composition by ear. He is widely recognized for his exceptional and diverse guitar playing and his expertise in lending refinement to a composition. Papa’s dynamic arrangements punctuate a song and provide unique sonic styling that builds from the basement to the penthouse. Credited on over 300 recordings ranging from acoustic instrumentals to heavy metal and alternative rock, Papa has earned the respect of his peers. His highly regarded work ranges from stellar guitar performances to complex compositions and unusual arrangements that have distinguished Papa’s recognizable signature sound. His accomplished body of work is rounded out by the meaningful contributions he made as a staff writer and technical advisor for the former Boston Sound Check Magazine, a multi-media regional publication. Papa penned a monthly column, “The Rack Space”, which drew readers and musicians alike in pursuit of advancing their guitar skills. The Rack Space quickly became a “must read” feature and generated a robust following. Papa’s mentoring guitar players is not limited to print. He has been teaching guitar and music theory privately for over 25 years. His easy laid-back “have fun” approach encourages students to play with a smile on their face and excel at their craft. Papa’s breadth of knowledge and passion for teaching guitar have earned him the reputation as one of the greater Boston area’s most sought after instructors. Papa has also been routinely called upon to demonstrate custom guitars commercially and at internationally recognized trade shows, such as the highly regarded NAMM Music Conference. He has also been the talent called upon for on-line guitar demonstrations and product reviews. Papa also enjoyed an endorsement deal with George L strings. Additionally, he has hosted guitar clinics focusing on rhythm and lead guitar work. Citing Randy Rhoads as one of his influences, it is no surprise that Papa’s clinics are well attended and widely regarded.   Papa’s gear of choice includes Marshall and Orange amplification coupled with: 1973 GIBSON LES PAUL CUSTOM 1982 GIBSON LES PAUL STANDARD 2000 GIBSON LES PAUL JR PLUS 1989 PEAVEY FALCON ACTIVE 1986 CHARVEL MODEL IV 1978 YAMAHA 12 STRING 2008 GODIN 5TH AVENUE 2016 SCHECTER OMEN EXTREME 7 STRING 2016 SCHECTER PT ELECTRIC 2017 IBANEZ RG450DXB 2017 IBANEZ MIKRO 2017 IBANEZ GRX20W 2017 IBANEZ GRX40Z Papa’s body of work can be enjoyed at Facebook, youtube.com as well as Soundcloud.com. check out his band Tribal Wisdom on facebook Tribal Wisdom "Lost in Boston" available on itunes, spotify, and google play I like working with people, the satisfaction of learning the guitar and teaching the instrument is awesome.

I wanted to learn guitar. I found a teacher that not only taught me the basics , I left knowing how to play my favorite song. Richard Teaches classes out of the Jam Spot 14 Teal Road Wakefield. R&P music owner Richard Papa is a true professional and is a pleasure to have as a teacher. His vast knowledge of music and guitar impressed me so much that I signed on for 1 year of lessons. I love his slogan "Learn today, rock tomorrow." im ready to take on the world and be the next Randy Rhoads and Angus Young!! R&P music : 339-224-8986 rpguitar.net regards Patrick Tibbetts
