Introduction: The founder, director, and primary instructor at JD Genius, Seida A. Wood is a licensed attorney in Florida and a highly skilled instructor with over 11 years’ experience teaching test prep and writing. She has taught over 8,000 hours of private and small-group classes, including nearly 6,000 hours of LSAT, law school, and Bar prep to over 300 students. She has recently completed a Higher Education Teaching Certificate through Harvard University, HarvardX, earning a perfect score in the program. Seida has spoken as an expert on the LSAT at university admission events and she is also a Certified Professional Coach who provides mentoring and coaching to students and attorneys at any stage of their career. In 2007, Seida scored in the 99th percentile on the LSAT after one month of self-study. She was a Soia Mentschikoff Scholar at the University of Miami School of Law, which she attended on a full academic scholarship. After her 1L year, Seida was first in her class of over 400 students, having the only perfect 4.0 GPA. While in law school, Seida received a number of academic awards, including two Dean's Certificate of Achievement awards for top grades in Civil Procedure I and Substantive Criminal Law. She was also on the editorial board of the Miami Law Review and was a certified legal intern and Clinical Fellow with the UM Children & Youth Law Clinic for three semesters. As part of her work with the Children & Youth Law Clinic, Seida conducted—and won—two evidentiary hearings before an Administrative Law Judge. Seida graduated summa cum laude from UM Law. Upon graduation, she was nominated to the prestigious Order of the Coif, one of the highest honors a law student can receive. She passed both the Florida and Multistate Bar Exams after less than one month of self-preparation and practiced complex commercial litigation for three years before launching JD Genius in 2015. Seida is passionate about the law and is dedicated to helping her students excel in every aspect of their legal education and career.

I was looking on Thumbtack for last minute LSAT tutoring. From the get-go, Seida was responsive, knowledgeable, and supportive. Even though it was last-minute and I paid only for a single session, she gave me plenty of resources and advice beyond just the tutoring session. She also KNOWS HER STUFF. We were able to pack a lot into an hour (I thought) because she is quick and to the point, could remember specific problems from practice tests that I had struggled with and helped me even in just one hour before test day, without even knowing me and my learning style.

Seida Wood, Esquire. the core of JD Genius, provided a deep understanding of all crucial aspects in mastering LSAT skills and true life experiences completing the task. She scored in the 99th percentile of the exam. Her lessons are rich and she provides ongoing constructive criticism in order for students to achieve their goals of mastering this test. She inevitably assisted me in gaining 20 points on my LSAT score. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer full-length group LSAT classes comprising over 50 hours of live instruction, with the option to add private tutoring, as well as deep discounts on application consultation. I also offer private tutoring packages, where I work closely with my students around their particular needs and goals. All courses and packages are paid via a payment plan and I offer various discounts and promotions at any given time.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I provide all prospective students with an LSAT to take to establish a baseline score. Then we schedule a complimentary phone consultation to discuss their score and their needs and goals, and determine which course or package would best help them achieve their desired score. Once a student has decided on a course, they'll receive a set of workbooks, a year-long subscription to LSAC's LSAT Prep Plus, where they'll have access to over 60 digital LSATs, access to the course via an Online Classroom, where they'll find worksheets and homework, as well as supplementary material, including pre-LSAT prep suggestions, application materials, and pre-law school prep suggestions. Students who opt for a tutoring package (instead of a small group or private course) will have access to all of the material in the Online Classroom and may purchase additional workbooks and an LSAC Prep Plus subscription as needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a licensed attorney in Florida with over 10 years' experience as a private tutor and thousands of hours experience tutoring the LSAT. I scored in the top 1% on my only official LSAT after just one month of self-study and since then I regularly score up to 179 on newly released, timed LSATs, achieving perfect Logic Games sections with up to 7 minutes to spare. I have spent years studying this test in depth and I've developed some of the most effective and comprehensive ways of thinking about and approaching each section of this test--based on a deep understanding of the test and expert-level teaching methods. My students regularly see 20-point+ score increases on their LSATs.
