Introduction: My rigorous music training in my youth and adult life make me stand out as a private studio teacher. I have studied with excellent voice teachers at great institutions and am ready to teach young and adult students alike. I also teach in the public schools and have the ability to adapt my teaching style and approach to best fit the needs of individual students. My current high school private voice student prepared 2 Class A solos in 5 weeks' worth of lessons and has been invited to perform at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival. I love helping students find their true musical voices. There is no greater feeling than watching someone enjoy singing or playing piano so much and knowing that you helped them with that phrase, or that note in order for them to get to that point. I really enjoy encouraging all of my students to consider new genres of music also, to expand their musical horizons!

Emily is a great teacher. She has really fantastic technique and brings experience as both a singer and a music educator. I liked her classical technique and style when I was preparing a Sondheim piece, and she really helped me with the emotional connection with the text as well. I would highly recommend studying with her!

I get to know the customer's background, what kind of music the customer has already sung and played, and what the goals are for lessons with me.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied piano extensively in my childhood and performance Class A work at the State Solo and Ensemble. I attended the Interlochen Arts Academy, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Boston University for classical voice training. I also teach middle school choir and prepare my students for Solo and Ensemble and play for other students in the district.
