FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Estimates given over the internet or phone are the first step. I will go to the customer’s house to see the furniture in question, or customers can bring the pieces to my shop. It really helps to be able to see the furniture first-hand to make the most accurate estimate possible based on the condition of the piece.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Life-experience. I have been working with furniture since I was a teenager. This really helped me develop a love of antiques and precious family heirlooms. Since those early days I have continued to hone my skills. I’ve learned that the quick fix is rarely the best solution – patience and care are the hallmarks of quality work.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mother had an antique furniture store for many years. It was there that I learned how to fix broken furniture and bring new life to pieces that needed a little tender loving care, as well as other pieces that needed a little more. I really cherish those early days and am very thankful for the opportunity that I was given to learn a great business. I really love this work and I appreciate seeing the joy on someone’s face when they first see that beloved family antique restored to its former beauty.
