I am a professional working musician and music educator. I am a vocalist, trumpet player and piano teacher. I currently teach voice and piano via Skype and from my home in Southern California and also teach in the middle schools Glendora Unified School systems.
My husband and I are both professional musicians, and I'm so incredibly lucky to have been able to sustain music as a career and to share music through education. I love being able to share music with my students, and watch them be able to grow as musicians and create music of their own!
I utilize technology so that I can teach my students around the globe, or in my home. :)

Several of my friends are singers and I’ve always envied their ability to perform in public. I’d sing alone in the car, but never had the nerve to let anyone else hear. Taunia suggested I take lessons with her and see if that feeling might shift…
I’m an adult with a busy schedule and voice lessons were the last thing I imagined fitting into my week, but the thought of getting better at something I loved really appealed, so I went for it. I’m so glad I did!
Taunia is knowledgable and focussed, but also incredibly enthusiastic and we always had fun. Our lessons were a wonderful balance of instruction, learning and encouragement, so while my skills and knowledge increased, so did my confidence!
While I still tend to sing in the car on my own, I am proud to say I’ve sung in front of an audience a handful of times and really enjoyed myself! (Thanks, Taunia!)

My name is Shah Salmi. I am currently the music teacher at Rice Square School in Worcester MA. As a music educator myself, I wholeheartedly endorse Taunia's teaching ability. I have known Taunia for over 20 years, and in all of my experience with her (band and choir mates in college, as well as being in the award-winning a cappella group, All About Buford), she consistently displays boundless musical talent, whether it be playing the trumpet in the band or orchestra or in her singing abilities. I have never met anyone with more passion and joy in her musical performance; her grasp of the vocal improvisational techniques clearly reflected and influenced by jazz greats like Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald. I have participated in and observed Taunia's vocal masterclasses in the past, and I can positively say that even I, myself learned a thing or two about singing and have thoroughly enjoyed her classes. She always makes it fun as well as educational with her knowledge of vocal singing. She challenges you to do your best but tempered it with the knowledge that everyone has different musical capabilities, and catered her teaching techniques to fit the needs of the students. I count myself very fortunate to know her as a friend and as a musical colleague, and I highly recommend her to anyone who would like to begin music lessons.

Taunia was my voice instructor for about a year, and what a glorious year it was! I had just started a band and wanted help finding techniques to maximize my potential as a vocalist. She helped shape me into the confident singer I am today by showing me how to utilize a piano to assist me in finding my range and pitch, by giving me various breathing exercises to train my body to sing from the right places, and rehearsed songs spanning multiple genres. I had a blast with her and I'll never forget what she did for me. She also has a wonderful personality for getting comfortable quickly. I highly recommend her!

This serves as a personal recommendation for Taunia Soderquist. I have known her since 2005, first taking voice lessons, then watching her work both in the music and technical realms.
I am impressed with her work ethic and her ability to learn new skills quickly. Perhaps the quality I admire most in her is her ability to be driven, professional and personable at the same time with her clients.
In the voice lessons I took with her, she made a highly personal and personable experience - she picked tunes in my vocal range that she knew I'd like, and offered a great balance of tough love and TLC to push me to be a more confident and "me" singer and performer.
