We can get started with a free consultation to get to know your needs as a client, dialogue about areas within which you hope to improve, and set up a working plan to help produce and deliver more effective written products. Your needs are our top priority, and the scope and direction of your consultations will be tailored to meet your individual situation. * Feedback for course assignments: e-mail a copy of the prompt for the assignment along with a draft of the paper. Within twenty-four hours, CWS will send back detailed feedback addressing both global and local concerns. Microsoft Word's track changes feature is used for direct comments addressing specific parts of the text and a more substantive write-up is also included. Alternate/additional options include meeting in-person, discussion via Skype, or by phone. * Feedback for larger assignments: e-mail a copy of your project, any prompts that direct the project, as well as an accompanying statement outlining your purpose, your target audience, and concerns you have about the project. I'm Joseph Longhany, your new writing consultant. I started out doing consulting work during graduate school when I was trained and worked in UCF's University Writing Center. During two years working at the writing center, I worked with graduate students across many disciplines and backgrounds. From anthropology to zoology, and from PhD candidates to professors publishing academic journal articles, I have consulted people from a range of disciplines and abilities. Since graduating and moving on from the writing center in 2008, I have gone on to teach writing courses at UCF, Seminole State College, and several career colleges in the Orlando area. I love learning, and working as a consultant allows me to engage with many bright, talented, and amazing clients. During the early part of the day, I might be helping a PhD candidate working on a dissertation that is attempting to break through psychological barriers that prevent elderly people from developing healthy exercise habits, and then in the afternoon, I might be at a business developing strategies to help create synergy across departments through collaborative writing and role playing. The point is that I am truly blessed to work with so many amazing individuals, and contributing to clients' success is invigorating. When I started college, I struggled a bit to find my own voice as a writer, but knowing what it is like to search for my voice helps me to relate to clients. I know what it is like to have the ideas but not have the means to get those ideas to the page. I also know what it is like to collaborate, build solutions, and find approaches to create interesting and successful written products. We are currently working on branding and building a website, and once up and running, you will be able to read and post reviews of services, link up to our social media, and access helpful links to content and videos that will help with writing. Customized Writing Solutions began as a service to help PhD and professional students write for highly specialized audiences and situations, but the business has grown to deliver services for a range of other purposes. From helping to deliver clarity and concision for branding and communicating to customers to developing solutions for business to improve inter-departmental communication, CWS serves as a hub for a variety of writing consulting services.
