Introduction: Until about 25 years ago, psychologists and brain scientists "knew" that our learning capacity was fixed at birth. Today, as a result of new technology (including MRI scanning) and massive experimental and observational studies, they--and we--know that the brain can continue to grow throughout adulthood. What makes it grow? Giving correct answers doesn't make it grow; making mistakes makes it grow. When you make a mistake, your brain develops new cells and new connections. My role as your tutor is to challenge you to learn and to provide a safe environment in which you can try, fail, try again (and again) until you succeed. Think of a session as rehearsal, practice or lab. I don't judge or evaluate my students; I guide and support them. We emphasize four Ps": 1. Be Proactive; 2. Be Patient; 3. Persevere and 4 Produce. Each time you try, you progress. If you try ten times, you progress 10% each time you try. My role is to offer challenges at which you can succeed and to guide and encourage you along the way. I taught in public schools in Florida and Massachusetts for 5 years and have tutored in both states for 15 years. I love to see that my students develop confidence in their ability to learn mathematics (or anything for that matter) and to develop an appreciation of mathematics as a tool in the sciences and as a form of self-expression. I enjoy doing and discussing math just to do and discuss math.

Chuck did a great job working with my high schooler to raise his ACT score. My son was eager to do what was asked of him and did not want to let Chuck down. His score increased from a 27 to a 31. We will definitely work with Chuck again!!
