Michael is the trainer I was matched up with by the Matador staff. I always avoided going to the gym because I’m overweight and felt intimidated. Now that I’m in my 60s and suffering from various ailments (ex-smoker, chronic asthma, high blood pressure, obesity, etc.) my doctor sounded the alarm of concern loudly and recommended I seek the help of a certified personal trainer to help me become physically fit. So I listened (this time) and decided to grab the bull by the horns, face my fears and give this fitness thing a chance. What does this old guy have to lose? Well… a lot of weight and then some. Didn’t know where to start, fortunately a colleague recommended Thumbtack. Been working out twice a week with my trainer for 4 weeks now and can’t believe how far I’ve come. I feel short-changed by my fears and procrastination. Should have started this fitness journey sooner but like they say it’s never too late to start. Matador Performance is a great gym, people are friendly and trainers are very accommodating. Don’t be like me and put your quality of life on hold. It is a lot of work and sacrifice but so far the gains are worth it.Mar 1, 2018Verified
My experience working with MPC to hire my first ever personal trainer has been more pleasant than I had anticipated. Previously I had a difficult time in my attempts to hire one on my own but MPC staff (thru Thumbtack) made the process seamless plus my first 2 training sessions were FREE; what a great way to start this journey. They took the time with helping me find the right trainer to meet my specific needs and goals. Upon first entering the facility I felt instantly at ease, there’s really great energy flowing through this space. Anyway, I’m really impressed with the facility layout and the variety of equipment throughout. My chosen trainer turned out to be a great fit, she makes sure I understand why we do the exercises in the order that we do them; she’s a real pro and has a terrific & clever sense of humor. Looking forward to continue training at MPC and possibly hiring some of their other practitioners for different specialties.Jan 18, 2018Verified
I owe MPC and my trainer Jennifer an apology for not posting this review sooner. Several months ago I sought out a personal trainer through Thumbtack as a last stitch effort to redeem the failures of other PTs I’ve worked with in the past, all of whom failed to address my specific fitness needs. I’ve been struggling with arthritis for many years & so far PTs have been unable to work around my arthritic flare ups. I chose Matador after reading their reviews & success with placing clients with the right trainer so I decided to give them a shot. My PT Jennifer is great! With her valuable knowledge & guidance I am starting to see my body transform and the best part is I can actually finish a session without feeling so much pain from my arthritis. She’s always varying my workouts so I never get bored. I’ve frequented many gyms trying to find one I can call home, at Matador I found it! MPC has the environment I like & the trainers there are genuine and really work hard to whip you into shape. Don’t waste your time and money elsewhere; stop by MPC, see for yourself how great this place is and invest on a successful outcome for yourself by hiring one of their personal trainers.Mar 4, 2018Verified
I contacted the facility manager Maria to set up an appointment for a facility visit and she responded almost instantaneously. On the day of my appointment, I walked into the gym and immediately felt welcomed. The environment is filled with positive energy and motivation. I was able to meet with a few of the trainers and get a sense of what they have to offer in order to help me reach my goal. I am physically challenged and was not sure about coming to a gym and having people look at or judge me in ways that make me feel uncomfortable. I’ve tried gym memberships at big chains before and almost always felt like the center of everyone’s focus; that did not happen at MPC. Matador Performance was instrumental in the process of identifying the ideal personal trainer for me and my needs; the match was perfect. It’s been a month at MPC and my time here is so enjoyable that I wish I had started sooner. I used to use two arm crutches when I first started a month ago, now I use only one, thanks to my awesome personal trainer; he motivates and encourages me during every training session, and has demonstrated to have a wealth of knowledge and exudes professionalism. There are so many challenges for me physically and he’s been able to come up with varied training methods to fit my needs and always provides measurable and reliable advice that is easy to follow. I definitely feel my legs and my upper body getting stronger every day. Matador Performance is a trainer/client facility. I am really glad that I found Matador Performance Center (MPC), where client satisfaction is highly valued; they care about you and your goal(s) not just your money. They are located on a not very busy street and the area is quite safe. Parking spaces on the lot can be limited during busy hours but street parking is plentiful, accessible and free. I have only good things to say about my personal trainer; thank you Matador Performance Center for facilitating the perfect match for me. Couldn’t recommend this place enough to my family and friends; if there were a 10 stars option, I would gladly give them 10 stars.Dec 13, 2017VerifiedMatador Performance Center's reply
Thank You Michelle for such a glowing review of your trainer and our facility. We're really happy that you're already experiencing and enjoying the benefits of personal training, your hard work & dedication; the transformation has been remarkable and we look forward to continue assisting you on this journey. Thanks for renewing your long-term package. We're glad to have paired you up with just the right personal trainer.
Last November, I spent several weeks reading many online reviews, looking to hire a personal trainer. The process was overwhelming. I got a tip to use Thumbtack.com to help me on my quest, best thing I could’ve done. The process couldn’t have been simpler and efficient; I received nearly a dozen quotes from some of the most qualified PTs around. I finally settled with a mid-range quote from Matador Performance Center – their facility is not too far from where I work so it worked out great. The MPC staff is friendly, provided timely feedback, was responsive to all my questions and took the time to explain how their system of being placed with a trainer worked. I felt very comfortable with the whole process and more so when I toured the facility, saw PTs in action with clients and met some of them. I love that there is no hard selling taking place. I received 2 complimentary sessions which included a full assessment and full training session . As for the training sessions, the workouts were challenging but always within my ability to perform them. My flexibility has improved, I feel stronger with each passing day – I never thought I’d actually enjoy working out. My Trainer is knowledgeable, professional, courteous, supportive and I truly feel he has my best interest at heart. I recommend anyone looking for a trainer to contact Matador Performance Center, they will find the right personal trainer for you..Jan 24, 2018Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Our pricing is based on the industry standard & most popular option of a 1 hr. long, one-on-one personal training session. However there are additional, affordable options to chose from: 30 mins. long, 1-on-1 sessions, partner/duet, 1 hr. sessions, small group training, etc. You can sample our services via our Groupon deal which is quite a steal.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We conduct an initial, FREE assessment to identify current level of fitness and design an individualized workout regimen to suit client needs, fitness level, areas of concern and address desired goals. We begin with simple exercise tests to establish a starting point and progress by incorporating different movements and exercises while keeping your health, safety & personal best interest always at the forefront.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work? Our personal trainers hold current personal training, strength & conditioning, CPR certifications and professional liability insurance from top organizations i.e. ACE (American Council on Exercise), NASM (National Academy of Sport Medicine), NSCA (National Strength & Conditioning Association), among others.
