FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a standard rate but am willing to negotiate based on distance. I tutor students in two-hour blocks, with a five-minute break between each hour. My hourly rate includes the cost of materials and extra support for the student outside of sessions. Students are free to reach out to me outside our sessions with any questions about their work.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin by engaging in a personalized diagnostic process. I arrange a phone call with the parent to discuss various aspects of the student's personality, test-taking history, and performance. I then send the student some test material that the student should complete before our first session. This diagnostic process will help me understand the student's strengths and weaknesses and will help to make our sessions more effective and more focused.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a National Merit Scholar, representing the top 0.5% of high school seniors. I graduated with a BA from New College of Florida, an honors college highly-esteemed for its rigorous academics and intellectual culture. My background in the humanities has given me sharp critical thinking and strong communication skills. I am an essayist and awarded poet outside of my life as a tutor, so I have discerning skill in writing in particular. I have twelve years of professional experience as a tutor and teacher in many different cities, including Gainesville, Orlando, Jacksonville, FL and Philadelphia. I have tutored high school students in test prep for over five years in the Philadelphia region. I've been an invaluable tutor for multiple test prep companies. I've studied the test extensively, and understand the test in and out.
