Introduction: I provide in-home one-on-one tutoring informed by over twelve years of professional tutoring experience. I offer up-to-date tutoring approaches on the techniques, strategies, and skills needed to raise test prep scores and academic grades. I provide tutoring in PSAT, SAT, ACT, and GRE test prep, critical reading, essay writing and editing, grammar, literature, elementary and intermediate math, piano performance, and music theory. I use a detailed diagnostic process to assess the strengths and weaknesses of my students. This allows me to tailor lesson plans to address the specific needs of each student and make the most of our sessions. In my years of experience, I've tutored students of diverse backgrounds and different age groups. I've tutored small children no more than five years old in phonics through creative play, international students studying English as a second language, high school students in test prep, and college students in education and essay writing. This range in my experience has taught me that it is important to be sensitive to the individual learner's abilities and to focus tutoring around each student's needs in order to bring about true growth and improvement. I have experience working for multiple companies and therefore have experience with multiple teaching methods and company structures. I've worked with a small boutique tutoring company focusing on individualized and personal tutoring; a national tutoring company offering standardized training to tutors and guaranteed point increases to students; and a successful international boutique tutoring company offering college-admissions advising in addition to tutoring. I received intensive and personalized training in all these work environments and developed extensive familiarity with the PSAT, SAT, and ACT test. I have expert knowledge on test-taking tips and practice repertoires to help students improve their scores. I produce great results as a tutor. As a private tutor, I've consistently aided my students in improving their test scores anywhere from 150 to 500 points on the SAT and 1 to 6 points on the ACT. All of the students I've worked with have performed better on tests after tutoring privately with me. I've scored a perfect score on every test I tutor: a 1600 on the new SAT, a 2400 on the old SAT, and a 36 on the ACT. Some of my students are good test-takers but need tweaks in their approach. Others need more in-depth content teaching. Those of my students who struggle with certain subjects and have worked hard in school but experience little to no success, love working with me to make their break-throughs. Through tutoring, I love helping my students progress and grow in their problem areas. Whether experienced or not, whether proficient or not, seeing their joy and excitement when they ace a test or solve a difficult problem is what I love most about my work.
