FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge either an hourly rate or a flat fee, depending on the scope of services. I always clearly outline options for the client before any design begins, discussing with him/her what would make the most sense for the project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As the outcome of any project is guided by the client's lifestyle, personality, tastes, and budget, I always begin with an informal and relaxed consultation. During this brief meeting (in-person or over the phone), I get to know the client by asking about his or her needs and wants and how I can best solve their design challenges. This also gives the client the chance to learn about my personality and skill set; I believe it's necessary for the client to be comfortable with me and trusting of my abilities!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My background is actually in graphic design and photography, both of which taught me many of the same principles utilized in interior design - color, shape, lines, texture, space, and patterns. Over the last 15 years, I have also studied holistic health and have become interested in how our spaces affect our well-being, as well as our ability to achieve our goals. And, after remodeling a few houses and creating, from scratch, homes that are tailored for their owners, I've discovered my element; interior design (plus a bit of life coaching for the home) isn't work for me. Helping people build the spaces that they need to create the life they want is what I LOVE doing. It's what I'm good at, too. :-)
