Introduction: Larry’s music career began in the 2nd grade as a piano student of Rosinka Campbell. He studied with her throughout his childhood years and began playing the trumpet from junior high through high school. In his sophomore year, he began taking guitar, voice, songwriting, and audio engineering lessons from Rob Hamon at a major music store chain in Texas. After a couple of years, Rob mentored him on the methods of teaching guitar and audio engineering lessons professionally and soon offered him his own teaching position. Larry taught guitar lessons and sold musical instruments for many years. He began performing with bands, singing and playing keyboards, electric/acoustic guitar and also solo classical guitar sets in venues around the country. Guitar Lessons “It has been a privilege to have taught hundreds of individuals of all ages how to play the guitar. I am currently teaching private lessons for Williamson Music 1st, in Plano. I am also teaching adult and kid’s classes in Texas at Plano Parks and Rec. If it is too difficult to attend one of these locations due to time constraints and hectic family schedules I offer to travel to your location. You can contact me at DreamCatcher Music Studio. I strive to see students flourish in a comfortable, cultivated environment of learning. All of my lessons, in any location, are tailored to each individual student, their desires and needs. It is an honor to teach and work with each and every one. ” – Larry K. Audio Engineering Larry is an experienced audio engineer. It all started when he bought a TEAC 3340 4-track tape deck and some microphones from Russ Berger of Arnold and Morgan Music in Dallas. Russ has since become a living legend as one of the finest recording studio designers in the world. He taught Larry his first lessons in audio engineering when Larry was a studio musician at Highgrove House, Russ’s recording studio. Larry’s humble beginnings with that TEAC analog 4 track, were followed years later by designing and building a 16 track Tascam studio. Years afterwards, he moved into the digital world with the fully functional DreamCatcher Music Studio. DreamCatcher has experience recording full bands, backing tracks, solo CDs, spoken word and are available to accompany your music should you need. If you need us to master your tracks or record your vocal and mix or lay down a guitar solo and then mix/master we can do that too. We have musicians we can contact should we need their services. We welcome any recording questions you may have. Building DreamCatcher Music Studio meant sound treatment for all corners, making 6 – 2×4 ft. Rockwool sound panels and floating them strategically to absorb the mid-range and low-end frequencies. It also meant countless hours writing new software which imports data from room analysis programs into Pro Tools EQ preset settings, providing us the ability to create an extremely flat room and limit standing waves to a minimum. This makes it possible to achieve the premier “what you hear is what you get” outcome. Here’s a short clip from a mixing session. All of the songs you hear on Larry’s sites were engineered in one or more of these three setups. Family Harmony “I have been blessed to have members of my family who are musically gifted and who have performed through the years. My father plays the trumpet, mother the piano, my sons – bass, drums, trumpet, french horn, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, violin and piano. Performances with some of the family have included festivals and venues all over, including the pavillion stage at Bethel Woods Center For Performing Arts on the 40th anniversary of Woodstock and street stage at the Honesdale Roots and Rhythm Festival. My sons offer their talents and assist in recording on tracks by request within DreamCatcher Music Studio.” – Larry K. Other Accomplishments Graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Musicians make great engineers! Final Thoughts “I LOVE teaching music – whether it be guitar, piano, songwriting or production!! It feels so good helping people find ways to accomplish their dreams. The joy of elevating others above their current position and encouraging them to success. Feeling that sense of accomplishment overtake them as they conquer the unknown is the greatest reward for me as a teacher and engineer! If you are looking for a gentle, patient, understanding instructor for you or someone you know, please feel free to contact me.” – Larry K.
