Introduction: My name is Melissa Harding and I am a highly qualified teacher with a NC license in Middle Grades Math. In 2011, I received a BA in mathematics from Meredith College. For the last six years, I taught math at Southern Middle School in Person County. I have had the privilege of working with learners at various levels, but the majority of my classes were advanced learners. My most recent cohort of students tested 95% proficient on EOG state tests.
Math has been a life-long passion and I embrace any opportunity to use what I have learned and am continuously learning to help young people explore their interest in math as well. Watching the "light bulb" moment on a student's face and the excitement I feel when they finally arrive at a new level in their learning is the highlight of my job. Being able to help a child learn and grow is important work and I value the time I get to spend getting to know and teach them!
