FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Meeting with a new customer only happens once. So being punctual is a must. I typically will check in with a text message the evening before to confirm that service is still desired, determine whether regular or eco-friendly cleaners should be used, and inquire where the best place for me to park will be. Upon arriving to the job site I will usually ask for a walk-through with specific details of what will be expected from me- as long as it can be done while still respecting the new guidelines for social distancing. If the customer is high-risk and does not feel comfortable being present, then I would ask for a detailed list, email, or text to be provided at the time of the scheduled cleaning so that it is extremely clear what is needing to be done. If all tasks are not completed by the end of the visit and an additional visit will be required, payment will not be accepted until all specified tasks are completed and the customer is satisfied with the quality of work performed. If the customer would like to continue services in the future, I will do my best to work out a day and time that works well for their schedule.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been cleaning, first starting with my childhood home since I was old enough to be given chores to do. Getting compensated for my hard work and efforts is what really sparked the flame inside of me to want to do more and learn all that I could to be the best at each task I would be assigned to do. I love to read and am always looking to learn new cleaning techniques so I am constantly working to grow my skills so that I can confidently tackle any cleaning task that I am presented with.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
As I mention above I have been doing this type of work far before I would consider it to be work. In my mid 20s I began to realize that working a typical 9-5 job wasn't really my style and so I began to seek out the opinions of those closest to me as to what I should do with my life. And to my surprise the majority of them had suggested that I start working for myself cleaning houses. Thumbtack has really changed the job searching process from going out and finding the work in person to something as simple as logging onto their site and finding clients online who are already searching for someone with the same skills that I offer. This alone has opened up so many opportunities and has freed up time that I can now dedicate towards working for people instead of searching for them.
