FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For furniture upholstery, I have a set system which is based on one of several typical styles and sizes of furniture, as far as labor goes. Of course, the customer's choice of fabric, as well as any additional supplies, such as new foam, springs, etc. will affect the price quoted. For all other jobs, such as furniture refinishing, repair or painting jobs, there can be quite a bit of variability as far as the work entailed, but I'm always happy to meet with a customer for a quote.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to first meet with the customer, preferably in person, so that I can actually see the job they need done and what the job entails to ensure that I can meet their requirements, and that they'll be totally satisfied with the end result.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been doing this kind of work since I was a kid. My father was, and still is, an upholsterer by trade, so I grew up reupholstering furniture, working in his shop. When I was barely a teenager, I began going to auctions, buying antique or used furniture and refinishing and re-selling it, and it's something I've done off and on ever since. I also have education in woodworking and have education all the way from grade school, in 4-H, up to the college level.
