Specific behaviors to address
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: •My business is first and foremost RELATIONSHIP oriented. I take the time to develop the relationships between my clients and myself and between my clients and their dogs. Learning is enhanced when relationships are based upon trust. I want each person to trust that I have their dog's best interest at heart. •My job is to show the OWNER and all HOUSEHOLD members how to train their dog. Trainer teaches owner, Owner trains their dog. The more that the dog's humans are involved in the training process the deeper the dog-human relationships become and the more successful your dog will be. •I am a POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT trainer. I believe that dogs learn best without the use of force, fear or pain and when they are allowed to make choices and given the freedom to think on their own. •ADULT dogs CAN learn. From learning new behaviors to taking part in a dog sport such as Nosework, dogs of all ages are welcome. •Whatever we teach our dogs we want to always eset the dog up for SUCCESS. The focus is on rewarding our dog for behavior that we like. When our dog is behaving as we desire, we have the chance to reward and praise our dog. For example, if your dog comes over and sits next to you pet him or give him a small treat. When you come home, and your dog doesn't jump up on you, calmly praise him or give him a treat. The more we train our brains to focus on the positive the less we will focus on the negative. •CANINE NOSEWORK : I am an Associate Canine Nosework Instructor. Canine Nosework is a new dog sport that gives dogs opportunities to use their natural sense of smell. ( nacsw.com). This sport is open to all dogs. Any breed, mixed breeds, rescue dogs, older dogs who may not be able to run and jump, and physically challenged dogs can succeed at Nosework. I remember the day a new student and her black pug were going through the search area with speed and confidence. You can imagine my surprise when I discovered he was born blind. Canine Nosework is an all-inclusive dog and handler sport. •In addition to instructing owners how to train their puppies / dogs, I also provide dog WALKING, DAY CARE and BOARDING I only walk one client's dog/s at a time. This allows me to give individual attention to each dog and to manage their safety. As a fellow dog owner, I know that life can be very busy limiting the time we can spend with our furry family member/s. Instead of dogs having to spend long hours alone, they can spend a half day or a full day in my home. This is a great way to prevent your dog from being bored and also provides an environment for continued socialization. Whether for business or personal, there are times when we must be away for extended periods of time. We would love to take our dog but it just isn't realistic. I did a lot of business travel while living in Japan and the hardest part of being on the road was leaving my dogs and cats behind. Fortunately, I had a good pet sitter who I trusted implicitly for the care of my pets. Dogs who stay with me are never crated and share the house with my two dogs. I send daily updates to the dog's family along with pictures and/or video clips. The objective of boarding dogs is to allow the owners to be away and know that their dog is safe and secure, gets plenty of exercise and is well-cared for. I'm very fortunate to have a job that I truly enjoy. I'm motivated to do whatever it takes to bring about a stronger relationship between dog owners and their dogs. I enjoy working with puppies because that is the age for optimal learning. Most future problems can be avoided if puppies receive training and socialization between 7-16 weeks of age. The shelter population could be reduced significantly if owners enroll in puppy classes. I also enjoy seeing adult dogs blossom from training classes or Nosework classes. I am very excited to offer Nosework classes because all dogs can participate and benefit. At the end of the day I can honestly say that I enjoy my work and look forward to each day that I am able to be part of the process of helping dogs and their families enjoy each other's company.

Greg has done several dog-related things for us. He keeps Sadie when we are away, walks her when we are busy, and comes to the house to take in mail and change lights when we leave for long trips. I never worry about Sadie when she is with Greg! Last time when we returned, she followed him to the door when he left. (She wanted to go back to his house!). She is always wiggles-butt excited when she sees him. I can't say enough good things about him.

Excellent dog trainer. Adopted a dog with a lot of issues last spring. Aggressive toward other animals, lacked basic dog skills and was about 5-6 years old. Saw results after first month of classes. Think we did about 6 months of classes. My dog is able to play with other dogs, walk on a leash, housebroken and finally knows his name. Strongly recommend Greg for any one who needs this dog trained. He has also watched my dogs and I've never had an issue.

We have used Greg/Force-Free Dog Services since getting our dog 2 years ago. He led puppy training classes for us with incredible results and we then started using him for dog walking and dog sitting services. Our Rhodesian Ridgeback loves spending time with Greg and his dogs and always come back completely exhausted. Greg also takes the time to reinforce training when he is with our dog, so he even comes back better behaved! Given Greg's background and education, he is very helpful in giving advice and answer questions about our dogs diet, nutrition, behavior and overall health. My husband and I travel often and it is very helpful that Greg is available and willing to come pick up/drop off our dog whenever needed. It is comforting to know that our dog is in a loving home being well looked after, when we are out of town.

Greg is a talented and supportive dog trainer for dogs and their parents alike. Much of his teaching is based on the philosophy contained in Karen Pryor’s book, Don’t Shoot The Dog! We have found his understanding of what makes dogs tick at different stages of their development indispensable in training our young male mixed breed.
