Introduction: I aim to help you learn quickly AND get a great workout at the same time. Our lessons will be fun, hard, and rewarding. Quickly, about me: I'm Sam! I've played tennis all my life at various levels of competition, and I'm starting to try and share my love for the game as a tennis instructor. I played singles on my high school varsity team for three years, and captained the team my senior year which won NJ state championships. I went on to play club tennis at Harvard. Teaching method: BALL MACHINE: I own a Slinger ball machine stocked full with tennis balls. You'll be able to get consistent and amazing feed consistency and more attentive coaching since I can watch your stroke closely and also take video to show you what's going well and where we can improve. A FRESH PERSPECTIVE: I'm trying to bring a fresh perspective to teaching, and reason from the ground up what makes a good lesson. For each stroke, I've worked to develop my own explanations and methods for developing the core goals of consistency and power. - Video: I'm experimenting with recording students' strokes and using these videos as a way of playing back what they're doing well and what they could improve upon. My first few students found these extremely helpful, so I'll continue to lean into this method if the student is interested. PRICING: - The first lesson is $25 - Beyond that, I charge ~$80/hr, and offer a discount per lesson if the student purchases 3+ lessons upfront.

Sam provided an excellent first lesson. He sent some very helpful videos and an outline of the lesson structure the day before, which helped me to feel comfortable. He’s professional yet friendly and approachable. The videos that he takes and his clear, straightforward instruction was truly helpful. After years of talking self out of it. I’m happy to have Sam make it so easy to get started learning the game

Sam got a pretty revolutionary coaching style! Lets the slinger bang feed you balls, and he focusses on coaching while taking videos. Way more effective than what I have experienced in the past, since the coach typically just feeds the ball to you and has much less time to analyze and make recommendations. In one hour, I got concrete/actionable tips for my forehand, serve and backhand.

Sam is an excellent instructor, especially for beginners! I'm brand new to tennis and Sam did a great job of breaking down the swing (both forehand and backhand) into the various components, which really helped me understand exactly what parts I was doing right and what parts I needed to work on. Sam is also great at adjusting the lesson based on the needs of the student -- for example, I was struggling with my follow through, so we did a few drills where I focused only on that part of the swing, which I found super helpful in putting everything together. I'm excited to start practicing on my own based on what Sam has taught me and looking forward to signing up for more lessons to see what else I could be improve on. Thanks Sam!
