Happy°F Private Swim Lessons

Introduction: I am a retired synchronized swimmer and competitive swimming athlete. I have worked with kids in the past to teach them how to be comfortable in the water, learn basic strokes, and improve technique. I love kids and have developed skills in engaging them in fun ways! My philosophy of teaching is simple. I teach water safety by building a loving, trusting relationship with students. I don’t teach “lessons.” I don’t force learning. I will be keenly aware of each student’s comfort zone. Your child will be proud to show you what they learn after each visit! I also will give you ways to practice in-between the lessons. It is preferred that the parent(s) are not in close proximity to the pool during the main part of the lesson. This is asked in order to promote independence for the child and to get them comfortable, alone, in the water. (Parents are welcome to be a part of the warm up and exist sections of the lesson). BASIC CLASS LAYOUT: -Warm up and introduction to pool -Breathing techniques -Game Time (get child comfortable with getting face wet) -Isolated movements (strokes and kicking) -Game Time "Crab Crawl" (get child to support body weight in water) -"Sleeping Beauty" (introduce back float) -Mobiles (implement bullet points from above to get your child moving in the water... time spent on Mobiles will depend on child's level of skill) -Jumping or Diving/Game Time/Cool Down -Goodbye (usually involves a closing mantra, chatting about what the child enjoyed most during the lesson, what their favorite water animal is, and lots of high fives!) -Exit and Homework (as child dries of I will give a detailed report on how the child is improving and what things they can work on in between lessons) *15 min Class: Ages 1-3 *30 min Class: Ages 3-5 *45 min Class: Ages 5+
