FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I first ask potential clients to complete a brief online questionnaire, which is followed by a 10-15 minute phone consult. We then meet in person for a full consult before beginning a training program.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained under 11 different trainers, three of which are known as some of the best trainers in the world. With these trainers as mentors, I have learned a variety of different techniques and approaches to helping dogs and their families, and have gained more applicable knowledge and skill than I would have had I attended a school for training. These schools focus a lot on didactic instruction without as much hands on experience. I have worked and handled hundreds of dogs of different ages, sizes, temperaments, and nothing beats simply handling dogs and getting a feel for who they are, what motivates them and how to communicate with them.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up around working dogs and breeds and fell in love with their abilities and the connected feeling that I had with them. I began training my and my friends' dogs for fun, and my friends were impressed by the results. I worked with my friends' dogs for years while working a 9-5. At one point I rescued a second dog that challenged my skills and I needed to seek help from more experienced trainers to work through her aggression. I fell in love with the training process and helping a dog beyond basic obedience, so I left my office job and started a business training and walking dogs.
