Introduction: I am active in a wonderful organization called the" Music Teachers of California, West Los Angeles". We offer many opportunities to children and adults to perform, if they want to. We have a "certificate of merit program" in which our students can enroll in an annual evaluation of their pieces, technique, and music theory. Some of my students choose to involve themselves in CM, others do not. Whatever they decide is fine with me. I absolutely love teaching piano! I love inspiring my students with the same enthusiasm for the music that I feel when I play. I teach Monday - Friday afternoons and I offer make up lessons on Saturday.

I'm an adult learner with a little bit of musical experience with the trumpet and a busy working and family schedule, and I signed for lessons with Barbara to start learning to play the piano. She is a wonderful teacher. I attended one lesson per week for several months. She was patient and encouraging and attentive to my development in my study; she would adjust the pace of our lessons so that they were challenging enough that I pushed myself, but not so difficult that I felt discouraged. While learning short pieces, she made sure I focused on fundamentals such as tempo, finger placement, and form without the lesson becoming a chore, the way high school music lessons often felt. She is also quite a fun person to be around and light hearted and so our 45 minute sessions often flew by too quickly and I often wish I could stay longer. My work schedule became too busy for me to dedicate the amount of time I felt I needed for my musical learning, so I had to put them on pause. I hope to have Barbara again as my piano teacher as soon as time permits.

Two of my children have worked with Barbara. She is professional, kind, and a good teacher. She has high expectations, and can adjust for the level of the student and their musical goals. Both children feel very comfortable with Barbara, and she is flexible in scheduling when other commitments come up.

I must find out whether the student is a beginner ( I love beginners! ), or if he or she has some background. It is so important to start at the right level.

BA in piano from CSUN Teaching Credential in music ( K-12 ) from CSUN Years of study with the finest of piano teachers
