Introduction: You can live a more fulfilling life by understanding yourself, maximizing your strengths, and addressing your challenges. Therapy can work for you.
In the therapy session YOU are the focus. Your feeling safe, supported and understood is vital to the therapy process. I will fully engage with you and with the process of our interaction.
Depending on your preferences and the goals of our work, there may be times when I mainly listen, amplify, and help you explore; there may be other times when I push you, ask questions, or offer alternative perspectives. I draw from various approaches, tailored to best suit your needs. Our work may be more “productive” or more contemplative; shifts can be quiet and take time to notice, or can be astonishing and move blocks in palpable ways.
In addition to private practice, I am starting my fourth year on the executive committee of The Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (ICP+P) and I also teach doctoral students. In the past I've supervised unlicensed clinicians, and for five years I ran a behavioral health clinic program in a primary care setting. For the last three + years I've produced the continuing education programs for ICP+P, so I have extensive ongoing additional training. Beyond my doctoral training, I've also completed year-long certificate programs in primary care integration and in couples work.
This work is incredibly satisfying: I value the opportunity to work closely with patients on some of the most important and vulnerable aspects of their lives. That kind of trust is something I take very, very seriously. I also love the challenge of getting to know each person as an individual and developing a relationship where we work together in really productive ways.
