FLEX Tutoring

Introduction: FLEX Tutoring believes there is no "one size fits all" method for teaching. What works well for one student may not work at all for another. With that in mind, we use a three-pronged approach that is wholistic, flexible, and integrative for effective tutoring to get maximum results. ​ WHOLISTIC Tutoring to Meet the Needs of Individuals By treating the student as a whole person, FLEX seeks to address the real sources of academic issues. While each student is different, FLEX tutors are trained to look for both inter-subject and intra-subject challenges. For example, a student having difficulty with math (intra-subject difficulties) may really be struggling with comprehending word problems (inter-subject difficulties involving both reading and math). FLEXIBLE Tutoring to Encourage Learning Styles FLEX Tutoring recognizes there are many different learning styles and that not all students learn well through auditory and visual methods (the two styles most commonly used in the classroom). Instead of rigidly adhering to a particular learning style or set of styles, FLEX tutors incorporate all learning styles into their instructional approach - from aural and visual, to verbal, physical, logical, social, and solitary. INTEGRATIVE Tutoring to Achieve Student Success FLEX Tutoring integrates a variety of life skills into each student's curriculum as part of our mission to foster personal growth. In addition to subject-specific content, FLEX tutors work with students to improve their study skills, note-taking techniques, time management, test-taking strategies, and stress management. These complementary skills prepare FLEX students for the challenges of modern life - from establishing work-life balance to efficiently managing the demands of higher education. I believe that every student has the ability to succeed through tutoring, and greatly enjoy seeing a student's progress through my sessions. I hope to help my students not only excel in a specific subject but also adopt a growth mindset and understand the importance of effort and hard work.
