- How did you get started doing this type of work?
We are an independent, family owned and operated small business providing residential home inspection services to homeowners and homebuyers. We specialize in single family and condominiums located in Washington, DC. Greg Sewell and his sons, Tank and Ricky, are fourth and fifth generation native Washingtonians. Previously, Greg was in the construction and home improvement business for over 30 years. You can count on Sewell and Sons for excellent service and attention to detail.

HOME INSPECTIONS OF DETACHED HOUSES AND ROWHOUSES A home inspection is an objective visual examination of the physical structure and systems of a house, from the roof to the foundation. Structural Systems - foundation, framing, crawlspace, attic Exterior - wall coverings, doors, windows, decks, steps, walkways, driveways, vegetation and grading Roof System - roof coverings, drainage system, chimneys, skylights and other roof penetrations Plumbing System - interior water supply and distribution system, faucets and drains, vents and flues, water heating equipment, fuel storage and distribution systems, sumps Electrical System - service entrance and conductors, cables and raceways, over-current protection, ground-fault circuit interrupters (GFCI's), arc fault circuit interrupters (AFCI’s) Heating System - heating equipment, vents, flues and chimneys Air Conditioning System - central and thru-the-wall equipment Interior - walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows Insulation and Ventilation - insulation and vapor retarders in unfinished spaces, attic and foundation ventilation Fireplaces and Solid Fuel Burning Appliances - system components, vents, flues, chimneys CONDOMINIUM HOME INSPECTIONS A condo inspection is an “Interior Only” inspection. A condominium owner is generally responsible only for the interior area of their unit. The external items like the roof, and exterior surfaces are usually the responsibility of the Homeowners Association (HOA). Refer to your HOA guidelines for specific information regarding the maintenance of these areas. Our condo inspection focuses on health/safety, moisture intrusion, functional testing, mechanical systems and components for proper installation, and condition of appliances.
