Introduction
Teaching the piano is my passion, and I strive to give my students just what they need, no matter their age, level, background, or interests. I hold my bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in piano performance, and hold multiple certifications in piano pedagogy. In addition to weekly lessons, I also include monthly group classes and recitals in tuition so that you are not only receiving one-on-one instruction from me, but also becoming part of a community of developing musicians. So much about learning a musical instrument can also be applied to life; I strive to make this connection with my students as well, making learning the piano not only a new skill, but something that is truly life-changing.

Jonathan has taught my young son piano lessons for two years and it’s been an incredibly positive experience. He is a very knowledgeable and patient teacher, and it is a pleasure to watch him work with my son, with his engaging blend of instruction, encouragement, guidance, and good humor. His passion for music and for teaching is always evident; I've witnessed my son begin to develop his own appreciation for music, while his skills have also grown tremendously under Jonathan’s tutelage. Jon is a dedicated, patient, skilled educator. As a teen who hadn’t yet acquired an appreciation for playing the piano, Jon consistently sought ways to make our lessons engaging, unlike any previous piano teacher of mine had. I haven't taken piano in years and decided to revisit it as an adult but was nervous about learning theory again. Jon evaluated what I still remembered and provided an incredible plan of action to strengthen my foundation and enhance my understanding. He teaches in a practical, hands-on way creating a comfortable environment for all students to excel. Highly recommend!

Jon is a true professional and master of his craft. Under Jon’s instruction my son has developed a great foundational understand of music and music theory, and has developed great practice habits. I also appreciate Jon’s focus on the Royal Conservatory certifications for his students. It gives them a great set of goals to work towards and recognition for their hard work. Would highly recommend Jon as a piano instructor.

Jonathan is one of the most wonderful and personable teachers I have ever met! He does not forget that studying music is supposed to be joyful. This shows up in his teaching style and in his personality. He puts his students at ease and he is very encouraging with them as well as with parents. He then couples his easy and laid back personality with exceptionally strong pianist background and with methodical teaching approach. Jonathan is adaptable and can work with students of all levels. It is of note that if you child desires to commit to piano and bring it to college admission level, Jonathan can bring them all the way there.
