Alicia is humble, professional, punctual, flexible and speaks with our son on his level, to make geometry understandable. She cares about his success and has already stayed late with him twice, and doesn't rush to leave when the hour is up. If he needs more time, she stays and she doesn't make mention of it. The first thing she did when we met, was like a gap assessment, to see what he understood, how he likes to learn (visual) and where he was with respect to terminology. In three weeks, Alicia has helped our son turn around his failing average grade of a 59 to a passing grade of 74 for the quarter, not an easy feat. His HW assignments since AA(After Alicia) have been 100, 95, 100 and test scores have been 77, 80 and a 92 - Wish we found her in August!!! Just yesterday, I got a text from Ryan during school that he just got his grade back on his geometry test and he couldn't wait to tell me he got the third highest grade on the test in the class, with that 92!! Feels like he is going to make it out of the woods and we are keeping Alicia on for the rest of this year and beyond I am sure! Its been hard work, hw assignments from her, making and STUDYING flash cards and practice using the formulas/proofs, but NOTHING feels better than giving your child the tools/help they need to succeed on their own - what a confidence builder!!! MATH is a LANGUAGE and she speaks with perfect grammar and fluency. She won't tell you outright, but if you ask during your interview process, you will find a pedigree for mathematics and a love for education. She attended Harvard Graduate School and her daughters were both accepted to MIT. If you need a reference for Alicia, I would be happy to provide one for her!!
