Introduction: An up-and-coming performer in both opera and musical theater, I am an experienced and passionate teacher of a variety of musical genres. I have maintained a private studio since 2012, and obtained my Master's of Music in Vocal Performance & Pedagogy from Pennsylvania State University. My students experience musical growth and vocal success, and several have been accepted to prestigious university music programs, including the University of Michigan, Boston Conservatory, Pennsylvania State University, University of Houston, and Interlochen Arts Academy. I strive to help each student discover their own unique instrument through technical exercises, exploration of repertoire, and an understanding of musical language. With an emphasis on body alignment and breathing, we also explore resonance and projection, articulation, clarity of tone, and expanding range. **Please note that we will not work extensively on songs until the student is comfortable reading basic solfege melodies.** Depending on the student's practice habits and abilities, this can take several weeks. Development of music-reading skills promotes student independence and confidence. Once basic music-reading skills have been established, we will choose appropriate repertoire. (Student input is always welcome regarding styles they would like to sing.) I enjoy tailoring each lesson to the individual student's needs. This includes developing weekly exercises for home practice and assigning repertoire appropriate for the specific student's voice. Every voice is unique, and by tailoring each lesson to the individual, we can explore each student's unique sound, more easily finding freedom and expression in the voice. I have been trained in teaching classical art song, opera, musical theater, rock, and pop music. I enjoy exploring new genres and introducing new genres to my students. I teach in two studio locations: one on 28th St near Cascade, and the other in Grandville. Please indicate which location you are interested in taking lessons at.

Very efficient at bringing out the best vocals in all individuals, as well as helping build confidence in the students. Always kind, and gives multiple vocal techniques for one to work on. Overall a wonderful experience.

I've been going to lessons with Corie since the summer of 2015 and it has been amazing! She has been very flexible with my schedule, as I sometimes travel for work. Together, we have added many songs to my book for auditions, recitals, etc. She has many techniques and drills to learn how to do different things with your voice. If something doesn't work, she'll come up with a different approach. I would recommend you give her a try, she's great!
