Introduction: We are a New Orleans based center for Southern Hospitality featuring a historic property to make your stay comfortable and a Louisiana-centric Cooking School to help you take the flavor or your trip home with you. Casual, relaxed and delicious classes covering Louisiana cuisine from the most basic recipes to the finest in Holiday entertaining. Classes are small and as 'hands-on' as you're comfortable with. Wine service is included throughout and each class concludes with a formal sit-down meal to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Public classes are held three times per week on a 'first come, first served basis. In addition, we can customize a class for your special event. Perfect for bridal parties, anniversaries and adult birthdays, Casa Pelican lets you choose the dishes for the menu and ensures that your special event will be talked about for years to come.

Chef Karen was very affable and knowledgeable, was very attentive and provided excellent instruction. We very much enjoyed her class, held in the kitchen of her home, also a B&B, and following our class, we sat with she and her husband and had a delightful meal of all that we had prepared. We had a delightful class, dinner and evening.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Classes are based on a price-line of $99/class per person and include wine service throughout and a formal sit-down meal at the conclusion of the lesson. Special Events can also include a variety of up-grades such as 'champagne service', specialty cakes, exotic ingredients etc for a mutually agreed upon price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We like to meet with our potential client and find out all the details of their event. From there we are able to make suggestions on how they will get the best of everything Casa Pelican can offer to meet their needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Chef Karen Duncan (Proprietor), Chef Robin Midgett and Chef Jewel Robinson are all credentialed Chefs and Culinary Educators with a collective 93 years of experience in the industry. Our studio kitchen is fully inspected and licensed by the State of Louisiana.
