Introduction: I've been a successful self-employed tutor with over 13 years of teaching experience. I work mostly with high school students and college freshmen. I am able to earn the trust of my students through my youthful personality and provide them with a patient and encouraging environment to learn. Students I have worked with have improved at least one letter grade or have been able to maintain high grades. Competent in many levels of math and science- on-level, honors, and AP. Because of this, I have been able to remain with students from junior high all the way up to graduation. One of my students has been with me for 6 years and graduated with honors! Also, I am now able to offer live, online tutoring! The tutoring website I use has a live, interactive whiteboard that the student and I can use and audio/video capabilities. I can offer a free demo upon request. What I love most about being a tutor is working with the students and watching them grow and improve academically. I like that I can offer them some peace and assurance in the hectic world that is high school. I've even had some students say they like a subject even after hating it for weeks and weeks!

Christine was referred to me by a parent from my daughter's school. My daughter was having difficulty in Math. Immediately after Christine showed up to our home for the first session, I was excited to know I'd found someone who loves teaching and more so loved Math. Christine made her feel comfortable first in knowing Math is easy when explained properly. Within the first week I saw a change in my daughter's feeling towards Math and she began to make A's on assignments and test due to Christine's one on one tutoring. My daughter is very confident and ready to tackle Algebra with Christine's help. I recommend that you choose Christine for tutoring, it will change your child's feeling about Math and they will become more confident.

Christine Fung was an angel sent to our son and family! He was struggling in high school Algebra, and truly, after the first tutoring session, my son said that he "clicked" with her and completely understood her style of teaching. The next year she helped him during a very difficult time when he was struggling in both Pre Cal and Physics. Christine went above and beyond in accommodating us to get him through this period, and my son sailed through these classes with a new, complete understanding of the concepts because of her exceptional way of explaining the material and the techniques to work through it. She is 100% dependable, very flexible and her gentle manner is not intimidating to the kids--which is key! We are sad that she moved, but, we will definitely still use her via Skype for any more tutoring needs. We highly recommend Christine, she's an amazing tutor and a wonderful person!

When working with a new client, I like to use the first meeting to assess the student's skills and comprehension and then recommend a plan to help improve the student's coursework.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Graduated with a B.S. in Microbiology from The University of Texas at Austin with high honors. Completed 3 years of Immunology PhD program at Baylor College of Medicine. During college, I worked as a teaching assistant and as a tutor in the athletics department. After graduate school, worked as a private tutor for math and sciences for 7 years. Two years ago, I also started teaching fashion design classes at Houston Community College and continue to teach classes online.
