Introduction: Coffee Shop Spanish is a home-grown Cincinnati company dedicated to offering students the most professional, masters-trained tutors in the area, with lesson plans and approaches that are guaranteed to get you speaking Spanish in no time. I started Coffee Shop Spanish a few years ago here in Cincinnati because Spanish became my life after living, studying, and working abroad for many years. After getting my M.Ed. in Literacy and Second Language Studies from UC, I pursued teaching Spanish independently full-time as a way of offering students flexibility, as well as the focused one-on-one attention they deserve. And what could be more fun than doing all of that in the comfort of Cincinnati's best coffee shops every day! I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!

Spanish Lessons

I've been taking lessons from Daniel with Coffee Shop Spanish for the past 1 year. I can't recommend it enough! I was new to the area and have taken a decent amount of Spanish at a community center in another city, I didn't want to jump into a class because I wasn't sure what level I'd be at and because I am in healthcare and was hoping for a more personal approach with some vocabulary built in specific to my work. Daniel is a wonderful teacher (and a very cool guy) - I've never felt uncomfortable speaking with him in Spanish or asking him any question. He's really helped me grasp some of the more difficult tenses as I'm moving into intermediate Spanish in a quick and easy way. He has excellent recommendations for ways to listen to Spanish (podcasts, movies, songs, etc) and provides opportunities to speak Spanish with natives as well! Also - you can take your lessons online via Skype as well - I was so glad to hear this feature was added, as I'll be able to continue my learning with the same great instructor even after I leave the area. For Spanish students of any level, I highly recommend this individualized approach to learning!

Daniel is the best of the best. He is punctual, funny, smart, positive, and has all the real world experience as well to back up his teaching program. I went from being able to say "hello, my name is" all the way to being able to read the Spanish version of The New York Times' in less than a year. I would recommend him to anyone, from CEO's to my twin nieces. He has such a great ability to connect with the individual and he always tailors his teaching style to meet the needs of the student.

One thing that stands out about the Coffee Shop Spanish teachers is their flexibility. Although they have solid lesson plans at the ready, the are always prepared to offer me a custom lesson based on my interests of the moment. They are a delight to work with, yet serious about their teaching. Not content to simply offer lessons, they also provide structure and motivation for my Spanish work between classes. Being able to take my class over Skype mean that a one hour class truly takes only one hour out of my day.

With Coffee Shop Spanish, I formed a friendship with Daniel and this, along with his passion for teaching Spanish, created much opportunity for learning. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We do not have a standard pricing system, as each student's schedule and goals are different. In our most common program, students have the opportunity to work one-on-one with one of our masters-level tutors for $180/month. This program includes four classes monthly, a customized self-study plan, enrollment in our 4-week fluency challenge, an exclusive invite to our monthly Spanish conversation night, and more!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We typically meet with students for an initial, free assessment and planning session. In this session, we gauge the student's level of Spanish, learn more about their goals and strengths as a learner, and put a game-plan together. From there, we begin working together between one and three times weekly, depending on the student's schedule and goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our tutors trained educators at the master's level or above.
