About this pro

How does your business stand out?

I am available for short-term and long-term editing and/or writing of content, as well as editorial/print design for your business and personal needs regardless of industry or genre. I've worked with writers of various kinds before in the capacity of an editor for workshop classes and school publications and can provide writing help for students up to grade 12 for class, admission, or scholarship essays. I've also worked three summers at Manulife/John Hancock, assisting with internal communications, website management, social media marketing, and event planning. As a freelancer, I've been hired for web content creation, miscellaneous editing and design projects, and resume/portfolio creation. Please visit my website to view some of my editorial design work as well as links to my blogs.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I love to work, especially with words and design. More importantly, I'm always eager to meet new people and connect with them through their writing and other business needs. I bring a lot of dedication to whatever job I have, regardless of type, and I have yet to have a bad experience.

Suchita took the time to understand who I was, not just what I do. She then was able to put all of that into a portfolio that described me better than I could myself! Amazing experience and will continue to use her services.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For anything that deals with words (editing, transcribing, or writing), I have a base fare of $0.10/word. Additional costs depend on the individual request. My rates a flexible, and once a rate has been agreed upon, it will not change unless it needs to be lowered. For resumes, the rates begin at $35-40 (lower for students and recent grads) and increase depending on the amount of design, while full portfolios start at $60.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to begin by setting up an initial video/phone meeting, followed by creating a "Project Tracker" document with which all the requirements, timelines, etc., are laid out for both myself and the client may track the work being done. For long term projects, I like to set up a weekly check in.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Intro & Intermediate Magazine Writing; Applications for Print Publishing; Magazine Publishing Overview
What types of customers have you worked with?
Copy-editing, content (substantive) editing, web layout editing, writing (emails, articles, blog posts, other), transcribing, research/analysis projects
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I'm incredibly passionate about everything to do with the written word and find that it is one of the most effective ways of communicating ideas. Where visual media can produce strong emotions and reactions, words help articulate those feelings and allow the subtle nuances to be more pronounced to a new audience.
